Strokes vs. blood Glucose?

Why do patients who have had strokes, usually become diabetic, or notice a change in their blood glucose level

There is a phenomenon common among seriously ill patients where they naturally get high blood sugar. This happens due to the stress on their body. If you go visit an ICU you will find that a lot of the patients are on insulin. This goes for people with pneumonia and sepsis also. It can occur with most serious illnesses and also injuries. I have never heard of someone becoming diabetic after a stroke. A stroke involves poor blood circulation or clots to the brain. Diabetes is related to the improper function of the pancreas which is unable to utilize sugar properly. So why do you think they are unterchanable. My mother had a stroke and never became diabetic. Anything is possible, but I never heard of this one. It could be completly coincidental. The person my have had diabetes and it went untreated, which can also cause a diabetic coma or even a stroke. Just an eduated guess. Sorry.
Memere is right.. Diabetics might be more prone to having a stroke.. Check with your Medical doctor.
Diabetes damages Arteries, and veins, so chance of stroke increases, the only answer i can tell you, is that with increased stress, blood sugar can rise.
