Associates in Medical Assisting or An Associates in Substance Abuse. Which is more difficult?

I like that Medical Assisting is a 1/3 office work, 1/3 medical work and 1/3 working with patients, doctors, nurses etc.

I like Substance Abuse because I like helping people with their problems with it.

Which one would offer more jobs openings and better pay???

Medical Assisting seems to be the better choice - you have more options. For example, you even get involved with substance abuse facilities as a Medical Assistant...Plus as an MA, you can get involved with so many other things.

I always recommend to keep the span wide, unless you have an unwavering, very specific passion. (i.e. if you want to be an HR Pro, get a degree in Business Administration instead of Human Resources, because it gives you a broader knowledge of the business scope and allows you to go in different directions more easily if you want to.)

Hope that helps!

Just fyi that there are not too many jobs for the MA so please don't go to private expensive school and for the addictions counseling certification, one needs several hours of clinical experience and perhaps a bachelor's. Perhaps volunteering can help. Report It

The real question should be which one you would be happier doing. In most large cities there is a large call for people willing to do these jobs. Pay for these positions vary considerably depending on geography, level of expertise, and if you work for a private or state organization.
