How many of you have been victims of substance abuse?

I was just wondering who else out there has had to battle addiction?

The yellow bunny is wrong.

A 5 year old child whose parents take drugs. That's a victim.

I will note that Miranda never said she was the addict, although with her statement "Who else is battling addiction?" she certainly implies that she is the recovering addict.

What she needs is encouragement, NOT another duma$$ who wants to quote 12 Step dogma at her.

Now, to answer your question Miranda...

I think everyone is addicted to something... television, sugar, caffiene, nicotine, pot, coke, heroin, crack, alcohol... they are all addictive. It is not the addicition in and of itself that is the problem. It is how we deal with it.

I myself am addicted to a few things, although none of them are illegal (yet, the Republican's keep trying though). I just make sure to control my addicitions rather than letting them control me. It is not as easy as I make it sound here, but it is sure better than the 12 Step programs that are out there.

i have been fortunate in that no one in my family has had any problems with addiction. In most cases, yes it is technically the addicts own fault, but for anyone trying to break that grip, they deserve all the help, support and encouragement the rest of us can give!! It is no easy task to break that grip!

I have never been a victim of substance abuse. If you have been a victim of substance abuse and came off of it i am glad for you and good luck in the future.
