Are Earth signs more likely to have Substance Abuse?

I asked a Q a while back:
"are Fire signs more likely to be Pyromaniacs?"
Or, something like that =)
Anyway, Earth signs are substantial and strong - they are Earth after all. But, wouldn't that make them more susceptible to Substance Abuse? Wouldn't they be more inclined to excess in what the Earth produces - good and bad?
What are your opinions? Your sign too, please =)

Nope, not the Sun signs.

Substance abuse problems are due to many factors. There are too many indications in charts to list here. Let's remember that the natal chart is about possibilities. Often aspects that can point to drug abuse can be directed into spiritual pursuits. 12th house, Neptune, and Pisces are the keys.

However Taurus Moon is worth looking at. It tends to indulge. When combined with the above mentioned factors, can indicate drug problems and addiction tendencies.

Generally, substance abuse is associated with water signs and Neptune influences.
Earth in overabundance looks at only the practical, materialistic, and sensual of the object, so may over indulge in food or lustful pursuits, or, of course, avarice...love of money...

Capricorn

(Capricorns are known for frequently indulging in alcohol, like Thin said, and she's probably right about the stress thing. Also, Capricorn is a very inhibited sign emotionally and alcohol allows the lowering of inhibitions, which most Caps would find useful...so they may use alcohol as a tool of sorts to help them loosen up and communicate better....)

actually, the truth is, water is the most prone element to substance abuse.

they are very emotional people, and are therefore the most easilly depressed of the zodiac. usually, depression leads to some kind of need for comfort, often resulting in drugs, over-eating, alchoholism, stuff like that...

earth is stable, but if you notice, alot of capricorns and virgos are prone to depression.(cappy's pessimism and virgo's need to be perfect) so i'm not surprised if earth is easilly hooked on things too.

No, I don't think so anyways especially in todays world. I know ppl of every sign that drink or do drugs. But I do know som Virgos that don't. It would probably have alil to do with up-bringing too cos their parents were very strict. I know my Grandparents were. Also most Earth signs tend to seek approval from their family with most things and are traditional and good doers.

I'm of the water element and I don't. Why do you think that would be? Maybe my moon. (Cap) and I'm a Pisces.

i think its water signs, they are more emotional and feel at times "to escape reality" so feel they have to substance abuse, just to get away from it all, because they feel so deeply they just go straight into depression and may find it hard to deal with it, so thats where substances come in . . . it can be people with alot of water signs in their chart aswell . . .

i smoke, go figure! lol but i don't drink or do drugs . . .

It seems that water signs are the most prone to substance abuse. After hearing that, I thought about it, and thought about the people I know, and quite a few of the people I know who are alcoholics and/or drug addicts ARE water signs, or they have quite a bit of water in their chart.

Hmmmm....good question!! Well, now that I think about it...all of my Capricorn friends drink too much alcohol....especially the guys but the girls can hold their own too;-)

I think they feel uptight and it is a way to help them relax....also they all work a lot/too much and are very very career minded.

I enjoy working with them though because they get the job done.

Anyway...sorry I digressed :-))) ummm they enjoy a good beer and beer is from hops, hops are from the earth so YES! rofl.....what a deduction huh? I took quite a few liberties in leaping to this conclusion- lol lol

I am a Virgo who has never tried any sort of drugs or alcohol and I never will. On the other hand I have two Virgo relatives who have tried a lot of different things, one with the same birthday as me. So I really don't think it has anything to do with sun signs, maybe rising or moon.

A friend of mine [Virgo] he had some troubles with is girlfriend and stuff and he started to drink, and he never drink alcohol, but i know he did that coz it was bother him about the whole thing about him and his girlfriend.

i would say water more in tune with reality and themselves and emotions or fire b/c they have bad tempers and get riled up easily.
