Do substance abuse facilities have to honor my right to attend Church? |
I was told this yesterday that I would not be allowed to attend Chirch Sunday. Is this legal? I do believe that if you signed into a substance abuse facility they have to keep you for the amount of time that your treatments suggests as I believe you may be in de-tox which creates a very vulnerable situation for you..however, I would check to see if you can call your pastor or minister to come visit you and pray with you or for you. Substance abuse is kind of like a life threatening disease, and inpatient substance abuse facilities are kind of like a hospital ICU. Do you really need to go to church to worship, or are you just being defiant? Is going to church more important to you than your health and recovery? They have these rules for reasons, and they came about by years of experience dealing with substance abusers. The rule doesn't exist just to piss you off. It's meant to protect you in your vulnerable state and help you through this difficult experience. And why are you being denied church this Sunday? Did you violate a rule? Are you being punished? It is legal...if you're going into a substance abuse facility then you need to stay there around the clock...that's what the program is all about. If you want to be free to do what you want, then don't go in. its legal. Being that you are a junky i don't think you will really be going to church but looking for that new fix. i would call you pastor and have them come to you. Why not? If you signed a consent form for them to care for you....You only can do what their rules say. It is Legal! You are incarcerated. Yes, it is legal, but you can request that someone contact your church and have someone visit you. Alas, one more artificial stimulant you can't get at. You don't exactly appear to be a god fearing person ,so I SUPPOSE YOUR A WHINING JUNKIE no you will just find away to booze or drug up, its just a damn excuse Ah yes ... the basic human right to attend church. Right up there with free-speech. |
