Motivations behind drug/substance abuse?

question of curiosity

To relieve emotional, psychological pain. Just to feel good.

getting the high that you experienced the first time you did the drug/substance. the feeling of euphoria that comes from using it can be incredibly enticing to get again. the reason a lot of people start drug/substance use/abuse is the curiosity of what it feels like. when they see what happens to others and the "high" they get, it makes you wonder what it feels like and does it feel as good as it looks.

- the saying "do it ! it feels good !"
- the saying "what's one cigarette gunna do?"
- anti - depressants ; supposedly relieve depression and stress
- pills, meds - to relieve pain and stress
- peer pressure
- so-called friends
- insanity.
- to make money [ drug dealers ]
- the "but everyone's doing it !" phrase
- wanting to feel high [even though the so called good feeling eventually stops coming back]
- wanting to "get away"
- following the footsteps of parents/idols
- many many more

I smoke pot because it relaxes me after a hard days work. It alleviates any anxiety I might have and it helps me with headaches. I also find it easier to fall asleep at a decent hour after burning one.

To me, that isn't abuse.
I can guarenttee the world that all the pills you pop on a regular basis are messing you up a lot more then then my bongpack.

I can't speak for other drugs.
