Substance abuse counsiler / worker?

anyone got any advice on getting a job this area of work, or know what qualifications are needed. im in the uk.

You may find that you may need to gain voluntary experience before you are able to enter this profession. Whilst doing this you could then start a counselling course at your local college.
Another way in is to become a qualified Youth Worker (check www.ucas.com to search for higher education courses or Jobs4U on www.connexions-direct.com for info on careers and other ways in).
It would be worth contacting your local drugs service to chat to someone about how they got into the career. Your local Connexions service should be able to give you contact details. Source(s): careers adviser
