What type of things exactly does a substance abuse counselor discuss with a patient? |
It sounds like a job I would be interested in, but I don't understand exactly what they do. Examples would be helpful--thank you! SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELORS WILL SPEAK TO THE CLIENT ABOUT HIS/HER FAMILY LIFE.. OR ANY ABUSE THEY MAY HAVE EXPERIENCED..THERE ARE MANY THINGS THAT LEAD ONE TO ABUSE ALCOHOL OR DRUGS.. FEELINGS OF INADEQUACY AND HOPELESSNESS.. LACK OF SELF ESTEEM..TO NAME A FEW..LOSS GRIEF.. THE INABILITY TO HANDLE THESE TYPES OF STRESSORS CAN LEAD TO AN ADDICTION.. DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK ABOUT THE JOB THAT PEOPLE DO ... IT IS A GREAT PROFESSION TO GET INTO.. YOU COULD TAKE A COURSE ON ADDICTION.. AND MAYBE GET A BETTER IDEA ABOUT HOW THE DISEASE OF ALCOHOLISM OR DRUG ADDICTION REALLY WORKS... IT IS A VERY INTERESTING TOPIC.. AND YOU WOULD GET SOME SATISFACTION OUT OF BEING IN THIS FIELD... BECAUSE YOU REALLY CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE.. YOU MIGHT BE THE ONE WHO ENDS UP GETTING THROUGH TO HIM OR HER AND THEY JUST MIGHT BE ABLE TO TURN THEIR LIFE AROUND... Why don;t you go to your local S.A. counseling service or rehab centre and ask for information about their program and training courses? |

Reliability and Validity normally refer to tests, as in blood/ pregancy test. A reliable test will give the same results in the same situation. Validity means being accurate, not giving fals... sin, selfishness, indulgence, self-pity, worldliness. BTW... any other explaination is for the flesh and pride to indulge in. But that's how you got here in the first place, - isn'... They don't test for much, and the cases that have happened so far have been self-reported drinkers, not druggies. There are certain things they don't test for, like pseudoephedrine. ... hardly anything for the responsibility required Son worked temporarily ........ for rehab center making only $8.00... Hmm from a personal experience of living with someone with substance abuse this is what i've observed: poor communication skills, obsessive thoughts of getting high, depression which is... It sounds like an interesting project, and I hope you do well. Look in the yellow pages. You will find a list of the addiction treatment centers in your area there. Make sure to call firs...
