Is practicing tai chi and believeing in chi (or ki) against christianity? |
I am a christian, and latly i have found out about chi. I think it is really cool, but I am wondering about my religion. The Bible says to stay away from magic and so forth; but is chi considered magic? I would never turn against Christ. I am just wondering, since the Bible clearly says to Sorcery and such is bad, I am wondering if chi and chakra and stuff like that is a sin. It is probably not considered magic, just a theory. Just curious, though...how would you classify talking donkeys and walking on water? The word "magic" comes to mind. I think you are OK as long as you know the difference as you seem to do. It is really an exercise program. You have nothing to fear. Follow your heart. I think it is okay as long as it doesn't turn you against God or Jesus. And it's natural curiosity, so I don't think anything is wrong with it. Some denominations would be against it, others would be more easy going. Chi isn't magic, think of it like the body's energy. You aren't doing any spells or cursing people, or trying to conjure up some spirit when practicing tai chi. It's a physical and mental excercise. :) Nothing is wrong about you learning Tai Chi. Infact, i'm also Chrsitianity and i'm learning Tai Chi. It's just a good "excersize" to learn, and i know it has nothing to do with magic. i know why your asking that question; chi isn't really magic, its just energy stored in your body, and by learning Tai Chi, you have the ability to control the Chi in your body to balanced itself out, and that will make you a better person. I love Tai Chi and learnign it makes me happier and feeling better in a way. So hey, dont let nothing to stop you from learning Tai Chi. In Fact, i recommend you to learn it. Trust me, its a great "excersize." It will improve your life alot, and plus its not a hard thing to learn. you just need concentration and yourself to be present while doing it. Sounds easy right. Give it a try. As a Tai Chi Instructor (Also spelled Taijiquan, but pronounced the same way) I can tell you that there is nothing un-Christian about it. In fact there is nothing anti-religion about it. |
