Knee pain with Tai Chi. Getting discouraged!!? |
I questioned the teacher about the knees going over the toes in many cases. She said Tai Chi is all about the Knees. Does that mean if you get knee pain you cannot do it? there are different styles of taichi. One of the ways they differ is in how much they bend the knees. some of them don't bend them anymore than normal walking. i think the best way to do taichi is by feeling ow you can move using the least effort. at first your knees don't bend much, then as they get stronger you find yourself doing larger deeper movements don't take your teacher too seriously, it's just a low impact way for older people to move around and get some exercise. The knees should not go beyond the toes. Have a rest then buy a video of Dr. Paul Lamb teaching Tai Chi, Nobody should suffer from Tai Chi Don't question. talk with. Describe your problems and ask if there is something that you are doing wrong. BTW, the something that you are doing wrong might be that tai chi is not the right form of exercise for you. |
