Does anyone here practice Qui Gong and Tai Chi? |
If you do... will you relate your experience? I practice both, probably not as often as I should. I do the Pa Tuan Tsin breathing exercises in the morning, eight in all. There are many forms of these, and the movements called by different names but all of them reap the same benefits, re-learning how to breath properly and the moves awaken the body to the chi force. Learning how to breath properly has many rewards health wise, when doing so the spine becomes straight, the body gets a good dose of oxygen and will lower the blood pressure. Conscious breathing will help to relieve stress in stressful situations. I learned three forms of Tai Chi when I had a teacher (sifu), Chin, Yang long and short form. One thing I was taught was if I was in doubt about the next move don't go on as not to form a pattern of wrong moves. Sadly to say I reached that point many times over the years and my Tai Chi of today is not of any established form but the moves are a combination of them all, but they all still flow. The breathing exercises and the "staying in the moment" of the Tai Chi has helped me in meditation. The spots where I've did the Tai Chi has left me with feelings of awe and a interconnection with nature. I've did it on roofs of buildings, a painted labyrinth in the court yard of a beautiful church even naked in the woods. My mom has been doing Tai Chi for years now. It helps her relieve stress and keep headaches away. I read some of the books she had on it and some of the people with ailments made miraculous recoveries after doing Tai Chi. I am not that disciplined to try it, but if you are, I would highly recommend it from the results my mom has had. |
