Recommended weight for tai chi performance sword?

how much weight and what quality would a performance sword be? should it be bendy when thrusted like in the movies or sturdy?

performance swords should generally be light, so i cannot recommend a "sturdy" sword. Actually wushu swords are quite sturdy (despite the back flack they receive from traditionalists) and will last a long long time. Just make sure you go somewhere where it can be measured for your height. no more than 1 pound.. Source(s): over 30 months in chinese martial arts...
If you want to compete, the sword should be rigid. That means that it's stiff enough that you can balance it on its point, and it doesn't bend. Aside from that, as a beginner, go with the lightest sword you can find. If it gets too easy after a few years, you can experiment with heavier ones.
im not sure, but what is very important is that the sword should have a good balance on it.
