Seventeen mag giving teens wrong health info!?!?!?

For example, two or three issues ago, they had sex questions. One person asked "Can you get pregnant if you're having your period?" Seventeen said no. THIS IS FALSE!!! You CAN get pregnant while having your period, it's just rare.

Last issue, they had STD health. They stated mono never goes away. It does.

This is pissing me off and most likely there's a few (stupid) pregnant teens out there now.

This was supposed to go in magazine's sorry

WOW!! that's rediculous....maybe you should write in? oh man that makes me fear what kinda info my daughter is gonna get when she's older!!! I guess that's why it's up to the parents to make sure their kids know the facts.....stupid mags!

Write to the magazine and let them know their mistakes. They have a responsibility to their readers to provide accurate information. It might prompt them to print a correction to the article. Or they might ignore you. Either way, its worth a try.

Write them, and bust them on this.
The mono stays in your system, but it does go away. You still carry the whatever the strain is called for mono it just does not cause you issues.

my dad is a doctor andif you had mono no matter what you will always have a trace of mono there stating that it NEVER goes away

wow... that writer needs to be fired... like.. asap... if they think that then they obviously not up to date on there sex ed!

Mono does stay with you, but the other thing about periods and pregnancy is wrong. You CAN get prego while being on your period................ it happened to me!

Viruses DONT die.. and they mutate.. meaning like someone else said you will always have a trace of it.. for those who havent read the article this is what it says

Mononucleosis

What is it? -- the viral infection is spread through saliva and causes extreme fatigue, a sore throat, and body aches that last three to four weeks.

How to spot it -- if he's tired and doesn't know why, it could be mono. but sunce the virus never dies, you can get it from anyone who's ever had it.

UH-OH! You've got it! if you think you might have mono, go to the doctor to get tested. if the virus shows up in your blood, she'll recommend at least a couple of weeks of bed rest and plenty of fluids to help alleviate symptoms.

if you are concerned then you should write a letter to their edditer. make sure you have and list reliable sources

Wow..I haven't read that in a long time, but chances are when I was younger I would have believed it...that's awful!

Mono never goes away. I still have flare ups. The Epstein Barr virus causes it and it is also the cause of Chronic fatigue.
