Is this a thyroid disorder? |
I am a 22 year old female who is very active and eats a healthy diet. For the last few months, I always tired and fatigued no matter how much I sleep, my feet and hands are always cold, my hair is coarse and I have problems with bowl movements (sometimes I can't go for 2 days every week and it makes me feel bloated). Does this sound like an underactive thyroid problem to you? It runs in my family so I think I am at risk. Before I go to the doc, I wanted to get some other opinions... Sounds like it.All you need is a simple blood test.THS -T3 -T4.All labs test differently for thyroid levels and some Drs use different charting #'s.....Is your skin dry,are you losing more hair than usual? Not all people have all symptoms, but I'd get the bloodwork.Thyroid disease is not genetic, but is does tend to run in families...go figure??? It could be thyroid problems (hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism) or it could be a form of diabetes (3 different types, hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia), you could be anemic (low iron) or any number of things. You should definetly see your doctor and have blood work done. Basic blood test can test for any of those things and they are easily treated with medication, because it sounds like you live a healthy lifestyle anyways. Best of luck. Are you gaining weight too even though you don't eat as much? Also, check your heartbeat..if it's slower than normal... these are also some of the symptoms for Hypo thyroid, but if I were you, I'd still go and tell the doctor you want to be tested. I had Hyper-thyroid after giving birth to my daughter, I didn't want to go to the doctor because I thought he would just laugh or something . He did say that the symptoms that I have are very similar to mothers who are breastfeeding BUT he did take a blood test to be safe and sure enough, my thyroid level was very high. So, I would suggest that you go to your doctor just in case you do have it, the earlier they catch it, the sooner you'll get better. Good luck!! Definitely sounds like your thyroid. Go get all checked out. Also, before you do, you may also take a look at your neck. I was hypothyroid for quite awhile and didn't know it. I didn't see a doctor until someone else notices I had a goiter (very swollen thyroid gland in your neck). You can be hypothyroid obviously without having a goiter, but if one is present, than you know what's going on. Thankfully, thyroid issues are usually easily treated with meds. My mother has an underactive thyroid and she has alot of those symptoms, however she also has trouble loosing weight because of it, I'd say get a doctor to check it out. Coconut is supposed to be good for thyroid problems too. This could be your thryroid, but the only way to know for sure is through bloodwork. Also, constipation can cause tiredness and fatigue. Talk to your dr about it, he/she can help you in both cases. It's possible, but there is no way to know until you have the blood tests. You need to have your free T3, free T4, and antibodies tested. Go to the doctor,- don't trust anyone on the internet. They may not be who you think they are.. It sounds like it, but I'm no doctor. I would go to the doc, it may be something different |
