Has anyone ever heard of Trichomoniasis recurring after treatment?

I was in a committed relationship for over a year and caught my bf sleeping with another woman. I went to my doctor that week to get a full STD panel. All she saw was yeast, so I thought I was good. However, I kept feeling itchy so I went back last month. She told me that I had Trichomoniasis, and she hadn't seen it during my first exam. I haven't had sex since I caught my ex, so I didn't really suspect an STD. Anyway, I took Flagyl 3 weeks ago and I felt like normal after that. But now I'm feeling like the symptoms have returned. Is it possible for the meds not to have worked? Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

it could be possible that you were resistant to the antibiotic..
just go back to your doctor and get checked again..
yes this is possible to happen without getting "reinfected" by your partner..
it is solvable tho!
good luck!

The symptoms for "trich" takes 4-28 days after contact with an infected person. Women can be infected for years and not know it (no symptoms). Your partner need to be treated for the infection even if they don't show symptoms or you would just continue to pass it to each other. And that could be what is go on. It is difficult to test men accurately for trich.*

trichomoniasis is one of those stds that are shared all the time, guys are BIG carriers for it!!!! without getting treated for it, they can give it to you again and again and again! you should go back to your doctor and have him get tested for it also

The cure rate in treating trich using metronidazole(flagyl) is 90% to 95%. Which usually cures the problem within one week. So if you felt fine for about three weeks then most likely the medicine did work for you. Is there a possibility of a new sexual partner that could have re-infected you? Or maybe the possibility of using an uncleaned sex toy that could have been carrying the bacteria?

Trich is a highly re-caught std. But if you have not had sex with another person or used a dirty sex toy then I would suggest that you return to your doctor and make sure that it is trichomoniasis that you have and not something else.
