What are the only ways you can get trichomoniasis??? i know i sound stupid .. please help?

i've never heard of this , so when my doctor told me i may have it i was floored i've never had an std! it's got me wondering if my faithful partner whom i recently got back with after cheating on me for years. i'd left him when i found out that and i was wondering where this may have originated? i hope he's not back up to his old ways or the highways going to be in his very near future...help me figure this out as to what causes it . could he have gotten it from some one or some other way? or could i have gotten it another way other than him sexually as i've only been with him the past year!!!help me i'm so confused and to think i may have had it awhile as i dont enjoy the dr's and ignore things untill i feel they need to be addressed sometimes, and only found out about this when i was admitted in the hospital in an emergency with extreme pain where they wound up doing lots of tests and had blood transfusions ect..while i was admitted could that have givin me it? thanks for any help

in order to get "trick" anywhere other than sexually, you would have had to sit on a wet toilet seat immediately (within 30 seconds) after an infected person, and you would have to rub your vulva into the toilet seat while it was wet, in other words you have to try very hard to get it from a person known to be infected, the bacteria does not live long outside the body.
