Trichomoniasis, a single-celled protozoan parasite, is sexually transmitted through penis-to-vagina or valva-to-valva contact. The vagina is the common site of infection. Treatment is an oral prescription drug called Metronidazole. It is possible to re-contract Trichomoniasis

While it can be spread through sexual contact, most women catch it by simply wearing undergarments that aren't made of cotton, not changing their underwear after working out or swimming or wearing tight pants.
