Is it possible to acquire trichomoniasis even without having sex? |
Is it possible to acquire trichomoniasis even without having sex? I just recently did a lot of research about this STD. I visited over a half a dozen websites and I only found two that even mentioned that you could get it in any other way. They said that in rare cases, a mother could pass it to her newborn child, but that it usually leaves the baby's system on it's own. The parasites will only exist an hour or two outside of the body. While it is almost always passed on sexually, it may be picked up from contact with damp or moist objects such as towels, wet clothing, or a toilet seat, if the genital area gets in direct contact with these damp or moist objects. Here are some links.... Good luck. http://www.4woman.gov/faq/stdtrich.htm... http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/... http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/... Source(s): internet Yeah when I was really young and knew nothing about anything I contracted trich from my friends g string bathing suit I borrowed. I knew very little about diseases. It was very difficult to explain especially since my boyfriend got it from me afterwards. He was furious with me but believed me about it. Then said to me you cannot even borrow clothing you may get scabies so I asked him what is scabies? He was like OMG didn't anyone ever teach you this stuff and I said no they do not talk about that down south. Yes, it usually resides in the vagina of the affected person but because Trichomonads (the parasite) can survive for up to 45 minutes outside of the body it can be transmitted non-sexually in certain instances, for example by sharing swimsuits or using the towel of someone already infected. http://www.emedicinehealth.com/trichomon... |
