What are the chances of a miscarriage if you find out you have a urinary tract infection? |
I went to the doctors on Monday and they took a urine sample, they called me thurs and told me that I have a urinary tract infection. is there a really high risk of me miscarrying now? Nope. UTIs won't cause miscarriage or any other problems as long as they are treated. The big danger of a UTI is for an untreated one to move to your kidneys and cause a kidney infection, which could cause preterm labor. Again, you're fine as long as it is treated. By all means, take whatever antibiotic they give you! It is unlikely to cause a miscarriage if you treat it. I think it is only dangerous if it develops into a really serious infection. The chances of miscarriage increase when you have a UTI but it also depends on how far along you are. My doctor told me that during the first 12 - 20 weeks it is crucial that UTI's because if left untreated it can cause miscarriage. i dont think you misscarry from a UTI. i had one at the beginning of my pregnancy too. and everything was fine. they never told me that. as far as i know there is no increased risk of miscarriage due to a urinary tract infection. they are very common during pregnancy. No there isn't a chance of miscarrying because of an UTI. They are very common throughout pregnacy. None |
