Urinary Tract Infection Won't Go...?

My doctor told me I have a UTI (urinary tract infection) so he gave me a prescription for amoxicillin 3 times a day for 10 days. I had no symptoms prior to having the infection so I didn't even believe I had one. But I took the amoxy as directed --- now I have 3 days left of the amoxy and I've developed all the UTI symptoms all of a sudden -- burns when I pee, I pee a lot etc.
Should I go back to the doctor and get more amoxy for more days? Will the UTI go in 3 days left of treatment? Or am I immune to amoxy?
Any answers would be appreciated!

I would call the doctor and tell him/her because you should be seeing some relief by now. Usually they prescribe an anti-biotic that is actually meant to treat a UTI like Bactrim or Macrobid. In the meantime try Alka-Seltzer, when I get a bad UTI and can't get into the doc for a few days I use regular Alka-Seltzer (the usual way) and for some reason it provides a little relief. I worked at a Urologist for a few years and the whole Cranberry juice thing just makes you pee a little more, in most people it doesn't actually help with the pain, it has a placebo effect on other people though. One more thing, taking antibiotics can cause you to have a yeast infection so you might be experiencing burning from a yeast infection, in which case the doc would have to prescribe you another med for that because OTCs don't help as often if the infection is caused by an antibiotic. Hope you get to feeling better!

Take the rest of the meds and if you still have the symptoms call the Dr's office and talk to your Dr's nurse. If the pills didn't work for you they might just have to call in a different prescription to the pharmacy.

it can heal pretty fast, but definitly UTI if it doesn go away by the 8th day go to the doctor again different meds work with different bodies
good luck

Try cranberry juice. I get UTI's bad twice a year and if I drink
lots of water and cranberry juice they go away within two days.
It will hurt when you urinate at first, but then it will get better.

yes u r immune to amoxy. the best for u is quinolone derivatives ..tell your doc. about this

Amoxicillan for UTIs? That's a new one...
Did they culture your urine after they took a sample? Or did you pee in a cup and the Dr. said you had a high white blood cell count, so he put you on meds? If they cultured the urine, they should be able to tell whether the antibiotic he prescribed will kill the infection. You may want to look into that. Also, for the future as well.
I had that problem w/ a yeast infection that I thought was a UTI. I had no symptoms but had bad symptoms of a UTI. They put me on meds and the last few days of it I felt like I had a yeast infection. They said it's normal sometimes.
Still def call the doctor, that's the best thing to do in any situation.
