Are you more prone to urinary tract infections when pregnant?

Are you more prone to urinary tract infections when pregnant?

Yes, and it is very important to get it checked out if you have symptoms. A UTI can cause preterm labour, and therefore can cause a miscarriage or stillbirth.
As suggested, drink plenty of water, and a glass of cranberry juice a day. If you have any symptoms, see your dr and get antibiotics!

Yes. This is due to the fact that it is harder to truly empty your bladder when pregnant. Make sure that you drink *heaps* (at least a couple of litres) of water every day, and regularly (a few times a week) have a glass of cranberry juice (this helps ward off the bacteria that causes the UTI). I've had two UTIs during my pregnancy so far (and I'm really hoping that I don't get another).

You bet. There's a certain hormone (the name escapes me right now) which actually prevents you from completely emptying your bladder and so - voila! stinging, hurty, wee!
It's reeeeally common and you've got to get on top of it immediately if you're concerned you have a UTI, thrush, anything 'down there'.

YES! i have one now and BV which the Doctor said it is only from being pregnant since i was checked a month ago and havnt been with a guy since then, i swear it all for now, lol. Your body will do some crazy things, mine is by far

Yes. There is a certain degree of immune suppression, which can increase susceptibility to all common infections.
