I don't have a bladder or urinary tract infection...?

but my urine smells awful and my left side under my ribs hurts when i have to urinate. I hydrate plenty and have started only drinking water 5-6 20.0oz bottles a day. yet when i wake up no matter how much water i drink, my urine is dark amber and my side hurts very badly. there is no burning when i do eliminate waste nor is there any frequency to it... I don't have medical insurance as i am a full time college student. I'm not looking for any diagnosis just some ideas or a similar story and solution that worked for you. Please help!
I have used AZO and all it does is make it more orange and nothing else. i also used their test strips and it didn't even turn a color. I use the cranberry tablets as all i could find was cranberry juice cocktail.

it may be a uti

sorry - but I'm a doctor - an infectious disease specialist to be exact, and I would have no idea what is wrong without a more detailed history - and more importantly a physical exam.

get yourself in to see a doctor. It is likely that your kidney has nothing to do with this, but no one can tell without examining you.

Foods can make it amber, is it not the cranberry tablets. You know you can still have urinary tract infections with no pain. You really should see a doctor though if you are getting pain as diabetes has symptoms like this.

well your best bet is to go to the hospital and have them bill you because this sound's really serious.

could be a kidney infection or stone. Go to the ER.
