Has anyone had urinary tract infection during pregnancy?

were you prescribed medication and was the baby okay? i was given antibiotics but am very scared to take them, i just dont want it to have a negative effect on my baby. im 16 weeks preg

I have had a UTI almost all the way through this pregnancy and with my first son as well. I have bladder problems even when I am not pregnant. Your OB knows what medication is ok for you to take during pregnancy and really the pros outweigh the cons in this situation because an infection can cause you to go into premature labor. Just take the meds like they were prescribed to you and if you are still scared the pharmacist can answer questions if you can't get ahold of the OB. My first son was a healthy 10lb 2 oz and I am almost 23 weeks pregnant with our second son. The antibiotics haven't hurt either pregnancy and just remember to drink lots of water cause that can help you get over the infection quicker.

Yes I have had quite a few infections. I took antibiotics while pregnant with my daughter and she was fine. You have to take the antibiotics. Not taking them could cause some serious risks to you and your baby if your UTI spreads to your kidneys. It could lead to miscarriage or pre-term labor and the infection could scar your kidneys.
Your doc knows best, they obviously feel its safe to take the antibiotics during pregnancy or else they wouldn't have prescribed them to you.

At least im not the only one lol I have had a couple its from the baby squashing ur bladder and small amounts of wee not being able to get out.. The doctor wouldn't give u medication that was not safe. U need to take the meds because it is very dangerous for ur bub if u don't.. Thats why test test for them all the time.. good luck..

UTI's are VERY common among pregnant women and you really need to take the medication before it gets worse. Your OB would not prescribe you something that would harm the baby.

Uggh -- yes, I had them while pregnant, and I was prescribed medication. My OB/GYN is the one who gave me the meds, and my son was an absolutely healthy baby.

If your Doc said they were cool, then you should be ok, I'm sure someone else has experienced this with that doctor before.
