Hi all. Uterine cancer question here. I just want to know why someone with this illness?

I will be seeing the hospital agian soon, and I will get chemo but a hystorectomy I am not sure of. My growing uterus which is bulky is causing me a lot of problems. I was told by many to get the hystorectomy but I do not know as th side affecs I hear are horrilbe. I might be starting chemo soon. so please tell me why do you get abnormal bleeding with this cancer, of and on. and the spotting is annoying too. please if there is any doctors on here or medical people that would be great. Thank you

I will be 39 in less than one month

If you are having menstrual bleeding, you are not menopausal. Perimenopausal perhaps..

If you are having non menstrual vaginal bleeding, could be a lot of things. First, you have cancer in your uterus. You could be bleeding from that. Have you had your blood counts checked? If your platelets are low or you are defficient in.. (I cant think of it but a certain vitamin) you will bleed easily. For women, vaginal is one of the first places of the symptomatic non menstrual bleeding for any patients who's cbc and chem panel are messed up.

Second, you have a LOT of answered questions that you should really be discussing with your doc. I encourage you to write down every question you have asked here about your health and ask your doc. They will take the time to talk to you, I promise. If you feel you need to, ask for a special consulatation apt so that you dont feel rushed and the purpose of the apt is to talk and get answers to some of your questions.

i bled uncontrolably with this and even required transfusions , you have tumors irritating your uterus this will cause bleeding not to mentions you may have some small holes get a hysterectomy.

I am not familiar with this but please keep positive as a friend of mine had this happen to her .She is now in her fourth year of remission from the cancer. She did have a full hysterectomy done.So I wish you well with your treatment and take care.

i had a hysterectomy when i was 36 years old due to fibroids. i only had my uterus taken out because the docter said i was to young to go through menopause yet. about a year later i had cervical cancer and he had to go back in and remove my cervix and the cancer with a leep proceedure. i am now in remmisiion from cancer since december of last year and i never felt better. get the hysterestomy. chemo is very harsh on your body and if you can have it removed without the chemo i would go for it.

If you have uterine cancer and are already in menopause, you won't be having any babies soon, so have the hysterectomy!!!!!! In many cases of cancer, chemotherapy only is not a good option. You need to have the malignant tumors surgically removed. Chemo usually is used to help destory any cancerous cells that might migrate from the original source to other parts of the body.

It would be a good idea to have a complete hysterectomy with removal of the ovaries as ovarian cancer is very hard to diagnose, they would be one of the first areas the uterine cancer might spread too and would possibly eliminate need for a second surgery later.

It is odd that at an age of 39 you are menopausal.
Have you been diagnosed as Uterine cancer? If you are not then first get the diagnosis done.
Post menopausal bleed may be due to uterine cancer or cervical cancer.
In either case chemotherapy is not the choice option earlier. You need to get assessed and more likely surgery/ Radiotherapy will be offered if they find cancer. And it is imperative to undertake the therapy offered for any cancer patient or else disease will grow to the last stage and then the chances of cure are minimal.
