Can you get a varicose vein in the ball of your foot?

I have been going to the doctor forever! I have a big lump in my foot and no one can seem to figure out what it is. I have not had a regular shoe on my left foot since August. They put me on medication, which has helped, but the lump is still there. Nothing shows up on x-rays or a bone scan and a steroid shot (OUCH!) did not help at all. I am thinking varicose vein maybe? I go back to the doctor tomorrow. Is this worth mentioning to him? Or will he think I have flipped out?

I have been dealing with this for 6 months already. The doctor said he is "perplexed".

There is nothing wrong in asking your doctor about your problem with your foot. That is what the doctor is there for. I have never heard of anyone ever having a vericose vein in the foot but then I don't know everything. It is never easy when you have problems with your feet. I remember my dad being crippled and going to the doctor many times. Good luck in finding out what the problem is and maybe you will finally find out what is going on.
