Do high heels cause varicose veins and back pain?

My mother in law is 61 and wears high heels wherever she goes outside (to the park, shopping, walking etc). She says that she feels more comfortable in high heels (not the killer heels, 1/2 of that). I am surpised she is wearing those shoes because she has varicose veins and back pain. I think this could be because of the strain on her back and the legs. I have never heard that wearing high heels is good when you have varicose veins but may be I am wrong. She does not have to wear flats as they are not always comfortable but not high heels. She is also quite tiny so I think she might be wearing such shoes because of that, to look taller. So, am I wrong or is it actually ok to wear high heels with those problems?

varicose veins, not likely- they are due to a faulty valve in the vein branch. But back pain can definitely be caused by high heels, also by fallen arches/ flat feet.

Back pain for sure -- it throws off your natural posture. I don't know about vericose veins though.

let her wear her high heels it makes her feel beautiful and in style. I wear heels every single day park, mall, you name it they come I do have back pain from them but some people live by the motto pain is beauty. I have worn heels for so long I can not walk in flat shoes I trip yes you heard me right. She is use to the heels and loves them she is right she does feel more comfortable in the heels becasue I know I do. Don't bother her about it it's so annoying when people say omg how do you wear those heels all the time or don't wear those. Just laugh and compliment her she will be fine I mean she is 61 and she's doing great!!!! No matter why she wears the heels she likes them and that's all what matters. It's not going to hurt her she will have the back pain and veing reguardless of the heels. This way she's happy wearing them and thats all what matters.
