Help, i'm 16 with varicose veins badd.. so depressed?

i've noticed really bad blacky/blue veins in the backs of my legs starting from the bottom up.. i know my aunt has really bad ones so its obviously in the genes. any cure apart from surgery . i dnt wanna loose my beautiful legs =( xx

Why would you lose your legs? Amputation is not the cure for varicose veins.

However, if you have symptoms you may need surgery at some point. That does not have to be disfiguring.

Talk to your doctor.

There is something called Sclerotic Therapy, which is injecting saline into the vein (by a surgeon), which causes the vein to clot-ff and the blood to re route itself into uncompromised veins. I had this done on a very large vein (saphenous vein) and it was just too large and did not affect it, but did on the smaller veins. I did have to have the saphenous vein stripped, which I would not recommend and I have neuropathy in lower leg as a result, and skin sags now in upper thigh where they pulled it from.

You are right, definitely genetically passed down.....

They make socks for this. they are really tight and what you do is put them on your feet put your leg in the air ( this drains the blood from the bad veins) with your leg in the air you pull the sock the rest of the way down your leg. This helps reduce swelling and discoloration. in some cases it can make them go away completely.
I have had varicose veins since i was your age do to pregnancy and these socks have really helped me. Give it a try.

You need to go to the dr before its too late ! In early stages you can get creams and injections that can help. If its bad then only surgery will help. Good luck !

If it is due to too much sugar or foods loaded with sugar a reduced sugar intake would help. See items 33 and 135 in http://www.rheumatic.org/sugar.htm .
