Don't cross your legs. This prevents proper blood flow and can eventually lead to varicose veins. If you already have them, you can have surgery to fix them.
Break the habit of crossing your legs. Elevate your legs in the evening.
1)Prevent long term standing
2)Elevate feet while at rest
3)Use compression stockings
4)There is a product that is over the counter called Venastat that is supposed to help people who already suffer from varicose veins by decreasing pain and swelling. I'm not sure from its mechanism if it would actually help prevent them.
5)Lastly, pray that your parents gave you a good set of genes as many people suffer simply by inheriting poorly functioning veins.
avoid standing for long periods of time. also keep your legs elevated when you are sleeping or watching tv. ..cayeene pepper is good for circulation..even onions!!
