Old wives tale about VARICOSE VEINS??????

Is it true that washing your legs in water when they feel tired and sore makes you get varicose veins??? What causes varicose veins?

they are caused mostly by genetics and standing on your feet alot or crossing your legs when you sit. But really genetics is the most important answer here.
That is an old wives tale. Vericose veins are caused by excessive strain on the legs and pregnancy. For example, if you have a job that requires you to stand all day, or if you wear high heels all the time when you walk, etc.
Varicose veins are two things. One, hereditary, two, they are caused by standing for long periods of time and bad circulation. They can be removed by a doctor with a syringe. It is a very easy procedure. Hope this helps.
Pathology Laboratory
No, it's not true.
Varicose veins occur because the little valves inside the veins (yes there are valves inside them, hard to believe) that make blood go one way (i.e. away from legs towards the body) become faulty.
They ultimately become faulty mainly due to age (that's why children don't get them) or because that something causing pressure inside the abdomen pushing the blood downwards. The most common scenario in which this happens is during pregnancy, which is why you see it often in pregnant women.
