I have horrible varicose veins, what can I do about them, and how much does it cost? |
I'm so tired of not being able to wear shorts or a swimming suit in the summer because of my horrible looking legs. I'm not just talking about little spider veins. I have the huge blue-green bulging veins. Help I'm so embarrased. By the way, my health insurance will not cover any of the cost because they say it's "cosmetic". I know exactly what you are experiencing, as mine were on the verge of ulcerating when I had my first surgery. Don't wait to have them either tied off or injected. It can be an office procedure, by a Vascular Surgeon, or by a Dermatologist in a clinical setting. It is expensive, but do a few at a time and ask about terms or credit card. The veins can keep stretching and will start breaking under the skin. In any case, you can have leg cramps and a danger of clots. It is not a fun condition, as the valves just don't do the job of lifting the blood. I was told that it was 'cosmetic' but it is painful. Best wishes just accept the fact that you are not 20 years old anymore waaaa......suck it up and let us see the road map Some doctors recommend stripping veins for health reasons.Mine did.TRY and look around for a different company. look up some sites on Apple Cider Vinegar,I'm serious ....I have read more then once that a wet cold compress the the vein will reduce it ,also drinking a glass on diluted cider will help.... I've had sclerotherapy. It's where a doctor injects the vein with a solution and it closes and goes away. You have thousands of veins, and the ones that are vericose are not working anymore so you do need to get rid of them or they will just make harder work for the rest of your veins. My insurance covers it 75% because there are symptoms involved. Your legs swell or get heavy after excercise. It costs $400 per session where I went. Look it up (sclerotherapy) amd see if it's right for you. Go to an actual Vein Clinic in your town. It's best to go somewhere where that is all they do. Good luck. I had sclerotherapy also...I paid out of pocket because it was cosmetic, but I had a relatively small area, so my dermatologist only charged me $75. |
