There are some newer ways to get rid of varicose veins besides surgery.

no sorry they are heriditary... my dad has a lot to answer for ,,,,only way to get rid is surgery, if you opt for that let me know how it went on,,,,, try loose a bit of weight too, that might work and be less dramatic than the op, happy legs
I used to work for an offfice that did sclerotherapy, but it was more for spider veins. We always referred patients to the local vein specialist for treatment options. Try calling around!
There is some laser that immediately reduces the appearance of varicose veins, but it is pretty costly.
