What is the best contraception for a lady aged 32 years with a history of breast lump & varicose veins? |
The lady is an indigenious African Assuming the breast lump was benign, there is no significant family history of breast cancer and she has not been a smoker, all options are still open. I would reserve coils copper or progesterone for women looking for medium to long term contraception. Barriers, usually condoms are OK for everyone, and have the advantage of giving STD protection. Combined OC is OK for non smokers up to 35or perhaps 37, and progesterone, in all its forms,pills injections and implants, can be used up to 45, again in non smokers.
