Has anyone had varicose vein surgery? |
If so how long do u7 have to be off work? Any details u can tell me would be greatly appreciated I'm assuming you're asking about "ligation & stripping". Most patients are off work 7-10 days. Post-op, you'll need to wear compression on the surgical leg. The first few days will be the most uncomfortable. Spend most of the time with the leg elevated, but get up every hour and walk around for a while. If you try to cheat and not wear compression, your leg will tell you to put the compression on. By 2 weeks, most of the pain is gone. There may be spots of pain, but they're well managed with non narcotic meds. Good luck! Source(s): vascular surgical PA |
