Why is violence against women more important than violence in general?

Considering men get killed, shot, stabbed, beaten, etc. More than women do.. why do we focus on violence against women?

Why is man-on-man violence and woman-on-man violence more acceptable than man-on-women violence?

Whats the main difference between a strong man beating up a weak, frail man VS. a strong man beating up a women? Why is beating up a weak man less taboo than beating up a strong woman?

Your thoughts...

Because women are more important in our society according to feminists. So women receive a special status. This is also why we have a International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

So just forget about all the men that are shot, killed, beaten, etc, world-wide which far outnumbers the violence perpetrated against women.

I agree that violence in general is wrong, and should be avoided if possible (with the exception of violence between consenting adults- eg boxing etc, or self defence)

It does annoy me when people say "you should never hit a woman", when they should really be saying "you should never hit anyone".

The violence you hear so much about is domestic violence, versus random or job based violence. There is something very insidious about a woman who is afraid in her own home - a place which should be a safe harbor for everyone.

And before you get started - yes, I know that men are abused in their homes as well. I'm just answering the question as posed...why is violence against women more important than violence in general. Directly, the answer is that it ISN'T more important, you just hear about it more because of the nature of it. And also, the squeaky wheel gets the grease...if you guys started talking more about getting abused at home, then there'd be more discussion of it. But as long as most stay quiet about it, it will take a back seat.

they say a woman is weaker than a man making her more vulnerable. i feel we women are reaching to try to be stronger, having mens jobs, trying mens sports etc. for now everyone still sees us as weaker. as the future progresses they wont think of us as that weak even though we are a little weaker than men not alot but a little. this progress will probably increase the most once we start playing football, once we start playing that sport than sexism will start to fade just as racism did in the 60's.

*You have no idea what something like that does to a woman* since you dont seem to be a woman subjected to violence.

Hence hahaha hohoho LMAFO at this stupid idiotic moronic retarded question.

Well put. have a nice day.

Because feminists push a twisted agenda in which they want and did establish women as first class citizens and men as second class citizens. Just like you have to portray the black man as violent and lazy to justify his status as a second class citizen, or the German of the roman times, you have to do the same with men.

violence is violence. the same laws protecting women are used when some guy gets his head broken by someone else. women are generally not as strong nor likely to fight as violently as men and make easier targets.

do you have penis issues or something?

Iv just heard the news and it said.....

"12 people died in an accident including 4 women and 2 children"

Huh what a world we live in

Women are often perceived as hapless with respect to being a victim, and hapless victims usually get more attention and consideration.

Much of the violence against women you are talking about is domestic, and it happens in the home, which makes it personal. Abused women used to live in shame and fear. Then we got louder about it and things got better. Yes, men suffer from abuse, too. And they are now ashamed to come forward so you don't hear about it much. Domestic abuse is wrong, no matter who does the hitting.

Women are thought of as weaker, when in reality there are some women who can beat up some men. I'm sure some women could really beat me down. Violence against women is looked up on kind of like violence against the mentally disabled. Is this right? Of course not! All violence is wrong. Feminists have made it to where the world doesn't view men as that important at all anymore. Feminists have also made it out that men are super-strong, but I will tell you something. We aren't strong at all to a gun, a baseball bat, a knife, a stronger person or a whole gang of people.

If it wasn't for men, none of these women would even be here in the first place. You said it all perfectly. You definitely have your head screwed on right!

.... Because women are often dependent on men. The idea is that not only are we weaker physically, but it is an "abuse of power" in other ways as well. Of course, most feminists pretend that women are equally strong as men, so this seems a bit schizophrenic, IMO. I agree that other types of violence deserve our attention, however.
