What do you think of this Islamic article from Yemen "There must be violence against women"?

I think there's a connection between the violence you see at home in that part of the world and the violence you see outside the home. A culture of violence.

Maybe the kid who is beaten as a child, and who sees his mother beaten, grows up to become a violent dictator. It's all connected.

My heart goes out to all of the little girls raised in such grossly biased environments.

the article ended with the "hope that the intent was clear"... to me it was... and a good example of why I could not possibly have less respect for islam... I am restrained by the PC policies of YA from answering fully with my opinions concerning comments made in that article... I would be immediately deleted from Yahoo by the YA PC police who cowtow to the islamists

You will notice that the article says its ok for men to hit women, but a woman must run home to her father if she is upset with her husband, never hit him. seems to me that if those women started picking up the frying pan and using it, the husbands would think twice before slapping the wife. One good smack upside the head would work wonders

i have not seen the article. but what i think is......i have never seen such a cowardly thing as violence against women. these 7 th century throwbacks are so screwed up its almost laughable. what are they afraid of, (oh, women need to be covered up in public), ill tell you what they are afraid of......their scared that they cant measure up to most other men so their insecure about themselves.their scared that their women will see what a real liberated american man is,....power and kindness combined. someone should beat their buts,.....oh, thats right....gulf war 1.....iraq.....i think we totally turned THEM into women. (no offence to women)

Cultural awakening? America's prisons are overcrowded and contain the highest population of any other country in the world. Who needs the cultural awakening??? Just because one country who's citizens are muslim publish something saying you should beat your wife or kids, doesn't mean this is what the religion states. I think it is very sad that the people in this country depend on media to educate them rather than picking up a book and reading. As far as womens liberation, more women are beaten, raped and killed in this country than any other country in the world. Also, women in this country struggle everyday in the work place to be equal to a man. If a woman wants to be a VP of a company, I can assure you her struggles are much greater than that of a man seeking the same position. How is that liberating???????????? Women in this country also base their entire appearence on what's in fashion and what is attractive to a man. You are in fact letting men dictate your entire existence. Everytime you buy a magazine or a designer dress that is produced by a man you are , in fact, letting that man dictate who you are. Atleast in Islam, when a woman decides to cover her hair or not expose her breasts while walking down the street, she is letting her creator dictate her actions. And last time I checked, christianity never said it was okay to dress like a whore and act as if you were one as well. I don't see women going to church wearing 10lbs of makeup on their face, stelletos and a leather miniskirt with a tube top. What's wrong with modesty??? Not to mention the fact, when a woman is raped in this country one of the first points brought up is the clothing she wore and the way she presented herself in physical appereance and behavior.
