Violence against women is growing - all over the world. How come?

Almost every day I read or hear in the news about the increasing violence against women. Some say that men can't stand the modern woman who's "independent". Some say that the unstable situation in the world, with war, poverty, political ignorance and "market forces" are causing this remarkable phenomenon.

I don't claim that I have facts about this issue. I'm making my picture of it from the news. Maybe issues and contains in media in general in the States is different from the European, I can't tell.

It's because there is a "monkey see, monkey do" attitude.

It's also increasing against men, only it doesn't get reported as much. People just need to be a bit more respectful towards each other.

Actually, it hasn't increased, just the media available to report it has. We are able to see more of it than ever before.

have you read up on black widows and praying mantis?

Its not like violence doesn't happen to males, its just seen as a bigger deal if a female hurt or killed or etc. It don't really know why and i'm pretty sure more males did from violence opposed to females. The big reason behind this may be the growing lack of moral values though.

Please post your sources. I don't know that violence against women is on the rise. It certainly is not on the rise in America. As a matter of fact, there has never been a better or safer time in America for women and children. We get the impression that violence is on the rise because the media is aiming at the "safety-mom" demographic. Women are the newest and fastest rising number of viewers of news. And let's face it, nothing grabs attention like bad news.

I don't think it is growing, at least not in the United States. Maybe I watch a different news program than you do.

ID AGREE WITH THE INDEPENDENCE THING

Men are becoming more and more insecure about their role in life.Having equalty,where equality just does not exist,forced on them could be a reason though not an excuse,for it.

do you have numbers to back this assertion up with?....do you know for sure this to be true...i would like to see hard factually evidence of this before you go stating a fact on here about something like this when it's not.
