Hey there,
Can anyone tell me a few questions regarding violence against women?

Thanks in advance for any help! =)

How and why we have started to see violence against women as abnormal and illegal? What makes social norms change?
(As in 50 years ago a man that beat is wife was not seen as an horrible person, today he is.)

How can we explain the new trend in France of "Tournante"? (A group of 5-6 people rape and beat up a woman for several hours-days. It's called "Tournante" because the woman is passed from one guy to the other. There has been several case the past 2-3 years, particularly in the suburbs.)

Did the woman encourage abuse?
Did she fight back?
Was it a religious honor lesson?
Was there a child involved?
Was the abuse verbal of physical?
Who abused the woman? Husband, lover, family member, friend, stranger?
Was it done publicly or in private?
Did the woman end out in the hospital?
Did the woman go to a shelter?
Was a weapon used against her?
Could she defend herself?
Did she return to the abuser after everything calmed down?
Did anyone call the police?
Was the abuser arrested?
