What are the causes of violence against women?

In Europe, domestic violence is the major cause of death and disability for women 15-44 years of age. In the US a woman is raped every six minutes. In North Africa, 6,000 women are genitally mutilated each day. In 2001, more than 15.000 women were sold as sexual slaves in China and more than 7,000 women were murdered by their families in India.

War, greed, a warped sense of family honor, sexual jealousy, mental illness, unstable emotional response from husbands/boyfriends, power trips, drugs and alcohol.

Women get abused because they are, generally speaking, smaller and not as physically strong as men. Ergo, they make easy targets for abusive men. I am not saying that is natural or orderly!!!! I am only pointing it out!!!!
As for Africa, that is a Stone Age tradition that should have been abolished before it began, but it hasn't.
In China, much the same as Africa concerning the barbaric origins.
Same with India.
Much of that is tied to religion and tradition. It is cruel, it is sad, it is a wonder that anyone ever survives, but it does happen.

In India women are killed because the family of the women pays a dowry for her to marry a man. The man family kills the woman so he can marry again, or because the family didn't pay them enough.

The 6000 African genital mutilation is a cultural practice like circumcision. You didn't even mention that China has an uncountable amount of female infanticide, because the government limits the number of children a family can have. It is their culture to value boys more than girls, so they kill the baby girls so they can try for a boy.

Because women let them. If we stood up for ourselves more then we could change things. Most of the things that go on in the other countries are because of ancestors. Because women did not stand up for themselves back then it makes it harder for the women today. Look at the women in the US that took a stand, now we can vote and do a lot of things because we stood out for ourselves.

As far as being raped. Sometimes it is being in the wrong place at the wrong time... But for those who go jogging at night alone in the woods (yes - some women do this) and get raped - Sorry, that is their fault for not thinking smarter.

Women not doing what men say or women disrespecting men. Same cause as violence against MEN. Someone aggravates you because they refuse to do what you want them to OR they disrespect you in some way. So you knock them out.

Its rare a woman (or anyone else) would find themselves in a violent situation if they are nice to everyone they meet and don't cause drama.

EDIT: Almost forgot. Scum bag men are another problem. Also, women throw the first punch in some cases. I will never hit a woman first, but if she attacks me I'm punching her lights out.

Last year 50,000 women comitted paternity fraud, 3 million falsely claimed rape and another 2 million falsely claimed they were beaten by their male intimate partners. 3000 falsely claimed abuse as a mitigating factor in the murders of their husbands, and a partridge in a pear tree.

The causes of violence against women is mostly nothing that they did wrong, but men who have psychological problems or come from unstable home backgrounds. There is no excuse whatsover to hit or mistreat a woman. We don't live in the dark ages any more. Women can do anything men can do in most spheres of life.

Violence is violence. If the victim is male or female is not important, but for people like YOU violence is a problem only when poor little women are the victims. Disgusting...

One woman calls another woman fat, or a hoe, or she's not dressed right, cankles, etc.....
