Violence Against Women - Romeo & Juliet - Act 3 Scene 5?

i was just confusd about this scene. i know that there is verbal violence by Capulet against juliet and Lady Capulet, but is that the only violence in the scene.???

would forcing juliet into marriage be violence against women,,,im guessing so...

No. Especially in that time era, in fact up until just recently and even still in some countries the parents arranged your marriage.
They usually arranged them when the kids were young but they could change. The marriages were to make bonds between certain families and to bring wealth to the families. And it is true that the parents had complete say the fathers owned there daughters and could do what they pleased with them.

So in todays society in North America, Oceania and Europe, yes that would be violence or against women's rights but in that time, no, its was the norm.
