List strategies for weight management?

1. eat breakfast-and make breakfast the largest meal of the day.

2. Divide the quantity of food intake for one day into 4 or 5 meals instead of 3. Basically don't ever eat too much at one time. Also, chew your food slowly.

3. Don't eat dinner past 6pm and make dinner your smallest meal.

4. If you want to really keep the weight off, plan on not dieting, rather make a shift in your approach to healthy living permenantly.

5. 3,600 calories equals about a pound of human weight. If you simply reduce your daily intake of calories by 300 and excersise for 30-45 minutes 4 times a week you'll lose on average 1-2lbs per week. If you lose weight too fast, you metabolism will go into conservation mode. Meaning, if your overdoing excersise, starving yourself, or both you are going to gain the weight back plus more!

6. lift weights! If your a girl and you don't want to be bulky do light weights and a lot of repititions. Increasing your muscle mass will increase your bodies metabolism, meaning your body will burn more calories even at rest.

7. Eat a lot of fiber, drink 8 glasses of water, and avoid sodas, and alcohol.

8. just flexing your muscles is good work out!

9. Eat a diet that is balanced in caloric intake. 40% from carbs, 40% from protein, and 30% from fat.

10. Take omega-3 fish oil. It's a miracle supplement that the United States is actually deficient in. Buy a good quality brand and take a large dose. The benefits to your memory, thinking, heart, skin, and mood will be staggering.

I adopted a dog and he expects a one hour walk every day. I am 43 years old and now weigh 124 pounds. Eat less move more, it is the only thing that works. Having a dog that expects a walk does help.
