Menstrual Cycle Started While Treating Yeast Infection...?

I have had a yeast infection for the past week and have been taking Monistat 7. Tonight was suppose to be my "final" night of the treatment, however I had just started my monthly menstrual cycle today. I have heard that the cycle will help rid the yeast infection. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, would I be safe to discontinue the last night of treatment? And, last but not least, would I be ok with using tampons or should I stay on the safe side and use pads until the end of my cycle due to the yeast problem?

If anyone knows, please let me know. I haven't been able to find anything out about this and am concerned more with knowing about tampon usage.

One of my patients actually called me with this question the other day.
Your menstruation will not get rid of the yeast infection. Continue with the Monistat.
Also, do not use tampons. They can keep the medication from getting to parts of the vagina. Just use a pad, as uncomfortable as they can be. You may want to use a pad the day or two after your final treatment, too.

Your cycle is your body's "cleansing period" and it will help rid the yeast infection. I would discontinue the last treatment, because you should'nt do a treatment while youa re on your period. I would stay away from the tampons this time and use pads and panytliners.

ive heard you are not meant to use tampons untill the yeast infection is gone. it should say on the box or leaflet of monistat
