A question about terconazole cream for yeast infections.?

I have an ointment that i use for lichen sclerosis and it cures that problem but it causes another. I get yeast infections from it so my dr gave me the terconazole vaginal cream that is put right inside the vagina also gave me diflucan i did the cream for 3 days but 2 days later i still have cream coming out does anyone know how long it takes for it to clear out completely? I have no symptoms of the yeast infection anymore and was wondering how soon I could have sex after using the terconazole? I am completely cured i feel alot better it is an amazing medicine. I did take the diflucan then another 7 days later so it really wiped out the infection..

The terconazole hasnt burned or stung at all and i have no symptoms but the cream is still coming out thats what i was really curious about..i didnt know how long it would take to get it all out or if it was safe to have sex if there a little still up there...my husband hasnt had any symptoms so i would say hes safe. I will try the yogurt maybe it will at least help me when i have to use the ointment for my lichen sclerosis...thak you for your answer it has helped me some....

I'm not sure what to tell you about the sex. I doubt it would be any harm to him at all. The cream didn't burn or sting you at all, did it?

What I would like to tell you is that if you need to use that other ointment in the future, you should eat a tud of yogurt with live acidophillis cultures in it every day that you are using the ointment. That may prevent you from getting the yeast infection at all.

If that doesn't work and you have to take it again, I would still eat the yogurt because it will help, even if it doesn't totally prevent it, but you should be able to get your doctor to give you the diflucan to start with the ointment. That way you may not even have to use the terconazole at all!

The diflucan is really effective! I used to use it once in a while because I never felt comfortable with creams I had to "insert" but I have been able to control things with yogurt completely now.

I wish you the best of luck!

I just found this: http://www.answers.com/topic/terconazole...

It is better not to have sex until you have finished your treatment. If you have sex, your partner should use a condom during sex to help prevent transfer of the infection. Your sexual partner may also need treatment.

Terconazole suppositories contain oils that can weaken latex rubber condoms, diaphragms, or cervical caps. This increases the chance of a condom breaking during sex. The rubber in a cervical cap or diaphragm can also break down faster and wear out sooner. Tell your prescriber or health care professional if you or your partner may be using a condom, diaphragm, or cervical cap during treatment with the suppository form of terconazole.

Vaginal medicines usually will come out of the vagina during treatment. To keep the medicine from getting on your clothing, wear a minipad or sanitary napkin. The use of tampons is not recommended since they may soak up the medicine. To help clear up the infection, wear freshly washed cotton, not synthetic, underwear.
