Can lubricated condoms cause yeast infections?

I am on the pill, but my boyfriend and I have started using condoms again because we figure it's cleaner and safer that way. I'm wonder though, if lubricated condoms are known to cause yeast infections or be irritating? If so, which type or brand are less likely to do that?

I'd really like to do whatever I can to avoid things like yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis.

I would actually think that you're LESS likely to get a yeast infection if your BF wears a condom. The ph balance in the vagina needs to stay correct (acidic), and it goes out of whack with a yeast infection. Semen is alkaline, and if you have sex a lot, it can contribute. At least I think so. I'm not a doctor or nurse, and may be remembering this inaccurately, but it isn't life or death, and it would probably be best to talk to your doctor anyway.

You probably want to avoid spermicidal lubricant though. With the pill you really don't need it. And regular lubricant is less irritating.

If you are prone to yeast infections, any water-based lube containing glycerin can contribute to one. Most condoms use glycerin-free lube. But to be on the safe side, I would avoid the ones that are flavored or offer heat or tingling sensations.

no condoms will help you. Semen is one of the contributing factors to the ph imbalances that cause yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. so using a condom should reduce your likelyhood of contracting either.

One of the things that is gooe to do to avoid YI is Yogurt. Eat yogurt cause it has a good bacterial that is replace back into your body. Condoms will not cause it.
