Cortisone cream on a dog's rash? My dog has a really bad rash that has developed from a yeast infection.?

As soon as she got out of heat, we noticed she had developed a lot of redness and swelling on her vagina and around it (her thigh area on both sides). She wouldn't stop licking so I brought her to the vet and was told it was a yeast infection that probably developed from wearing diapers during her period. I've been wiping the areas with yeast wipes for nearly two weeks now. The medicine is only supposed to be given for two weeks. The vagina area is alot better, but still have some small scabs and such. Her thighs are another story though. One thigh is really bad looking. She is wearing a cone so she cannot lick, but the rash or whatever it is won't heal. I've been putting neosporin on it as well as the yeast wipes, but its not really helping much.

Is cortisone cream safe to put on the rash? Several people have suggested this. Is it safe? Is there anything else that may work better?

Also, I can not bathe her for another week because she just got spayed.

I have used a cortisone spray that is made for dogs on my dog before. It can be found at your local pet supply (petsmart etc...) You do need to make sure that your dog will not lick it - it can be harmful if ingested. Also, make sure she stays cool - a nice cold room, possible some cold compreses, etc... will help her symptoms.

My dog had a rash on his nose. When I took him to the vet she was actually able to prescribe a cream for him. Not sure how bad the rash is, but you might need something that requires a prescription. I'd take her back to the vet.
