How do yoy get a yeast infection?

How do yoy get a yeast infection?

oh dear god. BACTERIA DOES NOT CAUSE YEAST INFECTIONS! your body has a natural scale of bacteria and yeast living in it all the time. bacteria kills yeast. yeast kills bacteria. if you take an antibiotic, you take out bacteria, which lets yeast run wild, and you get a yeast infection. There are alot of ways to get a yeast infection. Anything you do to tip the scales for yeast- dark moist places are havens for yeast to grow... antibiotics... and so on.

First, how do you know that it IS a yeast infection? There are other types of vaginal infections that can cause similar symptoms....namely a bacterial infection or trichomonas. Each type of infection is treated with different medication. Medication for a yeast infection can be bought over the counter without a prescription. If the infection does not clear with the use of the medication, then you definately need to be examined to obtain the correct prescription. There is an over the counter test you can buy in the pharmacy called "Fem-V Vaginal Infection Test." It will tell you if the infection is a yeast infection or not.

Women frequently get a yeast infection when the normal bacteria in the vagina are killed off when she takes a prescription antibiotic. Yeast infections are also a common occurance in women who have diabetes, which alters the normal pH of the body, creating a more favorable environment in which yeast can flourish. (Yeast is normally in your body, but other normal bacteria in your body prevent it from growing abundently and causing problems.) Other possible causes include frequent douching (which also alters the normal pH of the vagina), pregnancy, IUD use, steroid use, or having had intercourse with someone who has recently had intercourse with another woman who had a yeast infection and may harbor yeast in his urethra or foreskin.
