Yeast infection: yogurt vs. over the counter meds?

Which works better for a yeast infection yogurt or over the counter meds and which over the counter med would you recommend?

Yogurt would be pretty messy, and you have to actually manage to get it into an applicator and then inside you.

There are single oral pills made by Cannesten which are effective. Make sure what you have is actually a yeast infection and not Bacterial Vaginosis.

From past experience, Ive found the best way to overcome a yeast infection is to try home remedies. Yogurt is an easy and inexpensive remedy for a yeast infection. Eating yogurt that contains live cultures will help cure and prevent a yeast infection. Applying yogurt to the vagina will also help to cure a yeast infection. Dip a tampon in plain yogurt and insert it into your vagina. This can be done before going to bed at night and several times throughout the day. The yogurt contains Lactobacillus acidophilus, which is the bacteria that keeps the overgrowth of yeast in control.

Garlic is a natural fungus killer. Eating plenty of garlic may help to prevent a yeast infection. Using it directly will help cure one. Carefully peel a clove of garlic without nicking the outside layer. Wrap it in a piece of gauze that is soaked in olive oil and insert in into the vagina. This is best done at nighttime due to the fact that garlic has a very strong smell.

Try not to wear tight clothing or synthetic fabrics. These trap moisture close to your body and can lead to an infection.
Remove damp clothes and bathing suits promptly.
Avoid douching or using scented feminine hygiene products.
Avoid taking too many bubble baths or using harsh soaps. Instead, stick to mild, hypoallergenic products.

Monistat works well or a store brand equivalent. I do however recommend getting the one day treatment, as you don't want to suffer for 7 days, or even 3!

well you could EAT yogurt and use the over the counter creams.
