What can I take for a yeast infection during pregnancy? |
My obgyn apt isn't for another week. I'm almost 7 months. My ob had to write a prescription for me to get rid of my yeast infection early in my pregnancy. I'm guessing that means you need a special kind because she didn't tell me to get any regular over-the-counter ointments. To be on the safe side, I would stay away from over-the-counter stuff because it may not be safe for pregnant women. Until you are able to see your obgyn, just make sure and keep that area very clean and dry. If you are having irritation on the outside, you may be able to just put some cream on the outside to get rid of the discomfort until you talk to your ob. That should be safe since you are keeping it on the outside. Try a vagisil cream or something on the outside, but definitely consult your ob before putting anything inside. Good luck. then you should call and speak with another obgyn just to get a medical opinion on what you should take for your yeast infection. do not try and treat it yourself without talking to a doctor. call your doctor and leave message after message... or call and speak with another obgyn in your area. You need to consult your doctor before taking any medication during pregnancy, over the counter or otherwise. Only your doctor knows your circumstances and medical history and can recommend what is safe or not safe for you. Also, it's best to have a yeast infection diagnosed before taking anything, as it could be another kind of infection or something else altogether. If your appointment isnt' until next week, call your doctor on the phone to ask his/her advice in the meantime. I would talk to my doctor on this. I had a yeast infection 1 time so far during this pregnancy and I could only use certain things. Pregnancy is never a time to self diagnose any problems. I would have to advise you to speak with your doctor. Every pregnancy and woman is different, and people can tell you to take certain things just because "they used it" during pregnancy, but you and your doctor may be different. Even if you don't have an appointment, you can still give them a call. Even a nurse at your ob/gyns office should be able to give you that info. You dont need an OB appointment, call your dr. He will most likely put you on Monistate 7 but he'll want to do a vaginal swab to make sure its yeast first. I do believe any topical cream is safe, but if you can't get a hold of your OB then talk with your pharmacist! Good luck! Hope you start to feel better! Call a nurse advice hotline. Your OB should have one in place. Talk to them about your situation. They will give you the best advice possible. Good luck! You should still talk to your ob, or leave a message with him ask ur doctor or call and ask ur doctors nurse if u cant get an appt. they will prescribe you some cream i would get it from the doctor not the store |
