Can you cure a yeast infection just by eating yogurt?

I'm not sure I have a yeast infection but I had smelly discharge. That's a symptom. I just noticed today.

I don't want to use medicines yet because I'm still not sure.

So is it possible to cure it JUST by eating yogurt?
And how long can a yeast infection go un-cured before it gets really bad?

BTW. If I do indeed have a yeast infection, this will be my first time.

You can't cure it by EATING yogurt, but you can cure it WITH yogurt. Over the counter medications NEVER work for me. It sucks. They make my yeast infections so much worse, so I have to use home remedies, which, truth to be told, are way cheaper and you don't run the risk of anti-fungal resistant yeast.

A popular method is to take a surgical glove and fill each of the finger holes with plain, flavorless, surgarless, yogurt. Pop it in the freezer and you have a suppository! (Pessary for the UK folks.) Insert 1-3 times a day for about 3-5 days after the itching has cleared up.

My personal favorite method is garlic. Take a fresh clove of garlic and just shove it up there. Change 1-2 times per day for 3-5 days after the infection has stopped itching to ensure it doesn't come back. I ended up using dried powdered garlic in gel caplets from a health supplement store. Worked fine, but perhaps a little messier than a clove would have been.
If you're scared the clove will get stuck (it can't) wrap it in cheesecloth, tie a string around it, and voila, you have a yeast curing tampon.

See your doctor if it's your first yeast infection. It's always better to be sure.

No, you can't, but a smelly discharge is more likely to be a bacterial infection than a yeast infection anyway. The main symptoms of yeast infection are itching and a thick, clumpy white discharge. A smelly discharge is usually a bacterial infection. While a yeast infection can often be treated successfully with over-the-counter creams, a bacterial infection needs to be treated with prescription antibiotics.

If you do have a bacterial infection, then over-the-counter yeast infection medicine won't do you any good anyway. If your symptoms don't clear up on their own within a few days you need to see a doctor. Even if it really is just a yeast infection it's best to get a real diagnosis the first time so you can be sure.

An untreated bacterial infection can potentially spread to your internal organs and do serious damage, so don't be shy about getting it checked out if your symptoms don't improve soon.

eating yogurt will help to PREVENT a yeast infection, but it will not cure one. If indeed you have a yeast infection, the itching and burning will drive you nuts in short order if left untreated. Suggest you get some Monistat from the local drug store.

you really need a doctor to tell you its a yeast infection , to treat it right ,, as there are other infection you can get too down there, so have it check out.. yogurt may help
