How to know if you have a yeast infection?

I think I may have one, but not sure. I have medication for it, but do not want to use it in case I actually don't.
What are the symptoms?
I have discharge that is slightly yellow, but no smell (sorry for the description lol) and it hurts down there, and sometimes itchy.
Do I have one? Thanks for your help.

It doesn't hurt to pee. Is it going to harm me if I use the medication and don't have one?

OK if you have the following symptoms then you DO have one.
1.Burning or itching near vagina
2.Yellow/greenish discharge
3.Discharge is very smelly
4.Discharge has a texture like cottage cheese

Otherwise you are fine i would check it out for safety like my dad always says "nip it in the bud!"

yeast infection... really itchy, burning sensation, cottage cheese like discharge, doesnt typically smell.
Bacterial infection... itches a little, somewhat burns and green or yellow discharge, smells really fishy
Urinary Tract infection... hurts when you pee, you have the urge to go all the time but cant, no smell

Yes it can hurt your body if you take the medication and you in fact do not have an infection. there are over the counter tests you can get at like walgreens that can tell you if you have an infection. best i to go to the doctor. i have had many, and the medication never worked for me so i use herbal natural remedies and they work great!

some come with a test. usually it smells faintly lyke fish... and if it hurts. you need to be WAY more gentle with her. and itchy can happen because you shave. WEAR PANTIES YOU CAN THROW OUT OF YOU NEED TO. the meds will mess them up sometimes. shower before you go to bed and then laydown while you apply the meds. DO NOT GET UP. i know it sucks, but really try to stick with the box. email me if you need help chick. we've all been there

Symptoms: burning, itching, urination pain, sexual intercourse pain, odorless discharge
