I am currently taking Cipro... Is it ok to take AZO yeast at the same time to prevent Yeast infection??? I will first advise you to direct this question to your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse rather than the internet; That being said, I would not do so, as this may decrease the effectiveness of the Cipro if it is taken concurrently. If you are concerned about vaginal yeast infections and get these often, see your doctor for a topical cream, or use one of the over-the-counter topical preparations like Monistat. If you use an OTC prep, please do so only if you develop symptoms of a yeast infection and don't take it to prevent one. Vaginal flora are in a delicate balance, and too much of an anti-yeast medication may tip the balance of flora in favor of bacteria (your normal vaginal bacteria count--yes, there are normally bacteria there to balance other flora like yeast--may become too high, and this condition is called bacterial vaginosis). no, it will impair the effectiveness of the Cipro. It would be safer and better to eat yogurt to prevent over growth of yeast in the vaginal area, but always eat it one hour before or two hours after taking the Cipro. RN Eat yogurt with live cultures instead. |
